Local Activities & Events
As soon as you arrive at your cottage you will notice the lovely scenery that surrounds you. Whether you have come to get away from the hustle and bustle or to enjoy what South Wales has to offer, you will soon realise there are endless things to do. You can either stay at the cottage and take in the scenery or go to any number of activities or events locally or within a short distance.
Within walking distance of your cottage is the village of Gilwern. On foot, you can walk to local pubs, shops, to the canal (along it or on it!) and to one or two local restaurants. Further afield (within 4 miles) is the famous market town of Abergavenny. (www.visitabergavenny.co.uk) Again, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and famous mountains, there are even more things to do such as cycling, horse riding, canoeing, hand gliding, rock climbing and much more. Or enjoy the local markets, vineyard or historic attractions like the castle or the museum. Even further afield is Brecon (www.beacons-npa.gov.uk) and the famous Brecon Beacons national park.
As there is so much to list, we have split things up into Activities for those on the go, Events for those who like to see and Locations for those that like to learn. Please use all of the links to help plan some things to do during your stay or to show you why people visit here time and time again.
